Position Description

Job Summary

As a RN at Mon Health you will coordinate total patient centered care ensuring optimal service to the communities we serve.

RN will float throughout the Vandalia North Health System facilities providing care to patients in the Emergency Department. All RNs will have a brief orientation to each facility to which they will be assigned to acclimate to the various EMRs utilized throughout our system and orientation to Emergency Department. Staffing needs will be assessed by the centralized staffing office and RN will be assigned to the facility based on the needs of that facility. RN will be scheduled on the home facilities ED Multi-Campus Float Pool schedule as well as the schedule of the facility to which they are traveling. Any changes made to the schedule will come from the home facility after communication with the Emergency Department Leader. The RN will be made aware of changes by the home facility.

Responsibilities

Assessment
The registered nurse collects comprehensive data pertinent to the healthcare consumer’s health and/or situation by providing an extraordinary patient experience, compassionate care and clinical excellence one patient at a time.

Diagnosis
The registered nurse analyzes the assessment data to determine the diagnoses or the issues by providing an extraordinary patient experience, compassionate care and clinical excellence one patient at a time.

Outcomes Identification
The registered nurse identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the healthcare consumer or the situation by providing an extraordinary patient experience, compassionate care and clinical excellence one patient at a time.

Planning
The registered nurse develops a plan that prescribes strategies and alternative to attain expected outcomes by providing an extraordinary patient experience, compassionate care and clinical excellence one patient at a time.

Implementation
The registered nurse implements the identified plan by providing an extraordinary patient experience, compassionate care and clinical excellence one patient at a time.

Evaluation
The registered nurse evaluates progress toward attainment of outcomes by providing an extraordinary patient experience, compassionate care and clinical excellence one patient at a time.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Heavy WorkExerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently and/or in excess of 20 lbs. of force constantly.

Effective interpersonal communication skills in order to effectively collaborate with physicians, and instruct patients and their families.

RNs will perform the following:

  • Provides Patient-centered competent care ensuring optimal service to the communities we serve.
  • Completion of Competency Based Orientation requirements.
  • Maintains current knowledge related to unit specific nursing.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills, scientific judgement, and leadership in planning for the care of the patient.
  • Timely acknowledgement and completion of physician orders
  • Accurate and timely medication administration utilizing bar code medication administration scanning and reassessment.
  • Accurate and timely documentation of care provided in the electronic medical record.
  • Follow Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Incorporates and adheres to national patient safety standards and appropriate utilization of safety practices within each facility.
  • Recognizes and responds to changes in patients’ condition and report as appropriate.
  • Effectively communicates with patients, family members, providers, and co-workers.
  • Demonstrates effective use of facility (EMRs)
  • Provides patient and family education.
